Happy Pi Day!

Today is Pi Day. Its symbol is the lower case Greek letter “π”. Since the first 3 numbers in Pi are 3.14, we can see why March 14th (3/14) was chosen as the day to have an annual celebration. Don’t get it confused with National Pie Day which was on January 23rd. No this is the day for celebrating the mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle’s circumference. You know Pi= 3.141592654. Many people use this day to have a reason to eat pies or anything circular.

When I was homeschooling our son, we loved using this day to add fun while learning Math. Now that he’s older we still have fun eating pie on this day every year.

Today we started the day with some skillet pancakes I made for breakfast. I cut this like a pie and served each slice with ghee, powdered sugar, chopped pecans, chocolate chips, and maple syrup on top.

Later on, we had cheesecake. Since it was hard to choose, we bought the variety sampler from Walmart. I made it fun by having a tasting contest. There was the New York style, strawberry, Triple Chocolate, and Turtle cheesecake. We already knew what the New York one tasted like and we all love it. So I settled on testing the 3 with the toppings.

The winner was #3 (the Turtle Cheesecake). That was mine and hubby's 1st choice. Our son said he liked #2 (the Triple Chocolate) most of all. All of them tasted delicious and we would buy these again. Did any of you celebrate Pi Day by eating pie today?

Getting ready for Spring

Hello lovely readers. Spring is on its way. We set our clocks up an hour Saturday night to spring forward. It’s nice to be able to enjoy more daylight hours each day. We have had some pretty nice weather over the past few days. That got me in the mood to change the décor since Spring is only a few weeks away. Here’s a little peek in what I have been working on:

This is some of what I'm using and the things that I made. Many of the items I already had and others came from Dollar Tree or somewhere else.

I added a little Spring around the kitchen sink. I found the cute mini glass vase with flowers from the Dollar Tree. The picture above my sink came from a free download for subscribers from The Modern Mary.

This is my Spring tablescape. You'll see in the pic below that I tried (several times) to get some up-close pics of the print on the drinking glasses. It was hard to get a good shot because of the bad lighting. *Sigh. The front says "Bloom where you are planted", and the back has a bicycle with some flowers.

For the first time, I tried making wreaths for my front and kitchen doors. The big one is hanging on my front door. They seem to have turned out well. I hope to get better with more practice :-)

I made two wreaths for the kitchen door and side window. Hubby says they are cute and that I shouldn't doubt myself so much. I love crafty things. I just need to make more time to do more projects because they relax me. Come on Spring!

For Today: 3/2/20
_____________________________

Looking out my window
I woke up to a downpour of rain. Our high for today is 61 degrees.

I am thinking
About the arrival of Spring and daylight savings.

I am thankful
For my hubby and son spoiling me over the weekend. They both bought me several things I wanted at Pier 1 and JoAnn's :)

One of my favorite things
Relaxing be lazy on Saturday’s :-)

I am creating
I’m about to change some of the decors. I plan to pick up some extra little things for the house to welcome in Spring.

I am wearing
A brown blouse, olive green pants, striped socks, and olive green flats.

I am reading
The book of Romans for the ladies online Bible Study.

I’m watching
I have enjoyed watching The Walton's every weekday with my son.

I'm listening to
Songbird by Kenny G. This is such a beautiful song. I can listen to it every day.

I am hoping
I begin working on my Spring cleaning this month.

I am learning
How to be like a Berean when reading and studying my bible.

In my kitchen
I made us some refrigerator pickles to enjoy. YUM!

More of Value
I just came across the Thankful Homemaker. I'm thinking of checking out her marriage podcasts.

Post Script
Do you like adult coloring books? Sometimes for relaxation, I like to color a few scripture pages I find online. Mary over at The Cotton Apron has created some nice scripture coloring pages.

Shared Quote
16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith..”
~Romans 1:16-17
