Ways Wives Show a Lack of Submission to their Husband

In my last post, I shared about submission. As Christian wives, we need to regularly examine ourselves. We need to be sure we are not in disobedience to God’s Word concerning living out our biblical role in marriage. Many wives are either misinformed or overlooking the fact: when failing to submit to their husband, they are in rebellion to God the Father. “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft” (1 Samuel 15:23). We don’t want that ugly Jezebel spirit controlling us. It’s crucial wives take it serious about choosing not to submit to our husbands. Doing this is showing dishonor to God

John 14:15

Here are some ways that wives can fail to submit to their husbands:

* Will not respect her husband’s wishes.
* Resists following her husband’s lead.
* Not trusting her husband to make decisions.
*  Arguing/fighting with him to have things go her way.
* Telling him the “right” way (her way) things should be done.
* Dictates (micromanages) what he should/shouldn’t eat, how he should/shouldn’t dress, where to go, what to do, etc.
* Expects her husband to fend for himself instead of gladly serving him (as his help meet).
* Quick to listen to someone else’s advice over his.
* Interferes with the way he parents the children.
* Talks to him like he’s one of the kids (in a disrespectful tone/body language).
* Being her husband’s “Holy Spirit”.

I know there are more things that could be added to this list. Let’s pray to be in obedience to God by submitting to our husbands.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for making known to us Your blueprint for marriage in Your Word. Father, we repent of all the times we chose not to obey You in submitting to our husbands. Help us to put aside our agendas and allow Your Holy Spirit to lead us in our roles of being submissive wives so that You may be glorified. Marriage is a ministry and we want to do it the way You ask us to. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
